Independent Filmmaker Uses AI to Bring Southern Noir Storytelling to Life in Record Time
San Francisco — Young Cop, written and directed by Keith Adler, is an 80-minute Southern noir drama about a 14-year-old boy serving as the only night patrol officer in a fading Kentucky town. The story explores faith, moral responsibility, and the quiet cost of doing the right thing when no one else will.
The entire production is AI-driven. Film is generated at 720p in Higgsfield Cinema Studio and upscaled to 4K with Topaz Video AI. Characters and locations are designed in GPT Image 2. Voices are created with ElevenLabs. The soundtrack is produced in Suno. One filmmaker, no crew, no studio.
"AI does the heavy lifting. It generates the footage, renders the locations, voices the characters, scores the music. But the original story, the musical motifs, the visual choices, those are mine. These tools let me build the world that exists in my head. This is human-driven storytelling, assisted by AI."
The workflow is continuously improving, focusing creative energy on story and character, not process. The novel is free to download. The movie, audiobook, and soundtrack will all be available for free for non-commercial use under Creative Commons BY-NC 4.0 at youngcop.com. Commercial use requires a paid license.
